It was a pleasure for several years to deliver MEALS to Mr. and Mrs. Kelly, and, more recently, to Mr Kelly.
Mr. Kelly and I always would have a brief chat as he prepared for his lunch. It was always fun, in recent years, around July when we would each celebrate our respective birthdays: Mr. Kelly's on July 10 and mine on July 5; we'd wish each other "happy birthday".
We both had a brief cry together after Mrs. Kelly's passing and Mr. Kelly said how much he missed his wife.
It no doubt brought back memories for Mr. Kelly when, at the 65th anniversary, he told me that he had been playing basketball with high school buddies when Pearl Harbor was attacked.
Mr. Kelly was a kind and thoughtful gentlemen. I will miss him when MEALS time comes around. I'll think of him at our respective July birthday times.
May he rest in peace and may his memory always be a blessing to those who loved him.
