Obituary of Panet Katherine Campbell
Please share a memory of Panet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Panet “Katie” Katherine Campbell passed away January 12th after a long illness. Born on October 7, 1957 to Kenneth and Panet Keene, Katie was raised in West Hartford, Conn. with her brothers, Jim, John, and Tom. Katie was active in swimming and many social activities in her youth including being crowned Prom and Homecoming Queen several times over.
After graduating from Conard High School in 1975, Katie attended Ithaca College in 1978 with a degree in Business Administration. She moved to Albany where she began a brief career with the New York State Assembly. From there, she ran her own window treatment and design business, K.O. Designs, which she ran for many years as the sole proprietor.
Katie was also very successful in the home building business with her husband, Dean, before retiring in 2009.
Katie was a devoted mom to her two kids, Heather and Thomas, and dedicated many hours to their various high school and college activities, including a very active membership in the US Coast Guard Academy Parents Association during Tom’s time at the Coast Guard Academy.
She loved home design shows, working out at the local YMCA and spending long weekends at York Beach, ME with Dean and their golden retriever, Kota.
She’ll be remembered for her dry sense of humor, generosity, and kindness--most importantly her utmost grace, forgiveness and enduring strength in her last days.
Katie is survived by her husband, Dean Campbell of Clifton Park, her daughter Heather Olson (Matt) of Jersey City, NJ, her son Thomas Olson (Patricia) of Ithaca, NY; her beloved grandson Jack Lyle; her brothers Jim (Farah) Keene of Atherton, Calif., John (Barbara) Keene of Newington, Conn., and Tom Keene (Susan) of Avon, Conn. She is also survived by her stepmother, Janet Keene, of Bridgewater Conn., amongst many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, and half-brother, Jeffrey Keene.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association Parents Gift Fund and the National Ataxia Foundation.
