My heart goes out to the family of Tom Fitzgerald. It was my pleasure to have worked along side Tom for many years at New York DOT. He was among those most respected by his peers. I was there when he was the Engineer-In-Charge of "papa's bridge". It was not a simple project and he excelled in its construction.
He and I had lots of laughs poking fun at each other. I still have some of the messages he sent me.
