Obituary of Donald R. Groff

     Donald R. Groff, 62, of 6th. Avenue died on Friday Jan. 11, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  Don was born in Troy on June 22, 1956 and was the son of Victorine Groff of Brunswick and the late Earl Groff.  He was educated in the Tamarac School system and was the husband of late Cindy A. Groff who died Dec. 22, 2007.  He was a self employed contractor who had also worked for various plumbing companies in the Troy area.  Don loved fishing and camping, especially at Cossayuna, NY and in White Hall, NY.  Don always enjoyed the cooking of his son-in-law Tom whether at home or camping. 

     He is the devoted father of Christy M. (Tom) Mercer of Lansingburgh, Jeremiah Groff of MI, Jamie Groff of Troy and Trish Groff of MI; brother of Barbara Burkhart, Kevin Groff, Debbie (Bob) Willis, Chrissy (Rocco) Oppedisano, Kyle (Kim) Groff, Stephanie (John) Comitale; stepfather of Joshua and Damien Seror; Papa to 14 grandchildren and a great granddaughter; also survived by several nieces, nephews and his longtime companion of 26 years, Adela M. Yanus.

     Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., Corner of 115th. Street & 4th. Avenue in Lansingburgh.

     Calling hours will be from 11:00 – 1:00 pm Wednesday in the funeral home.
