Obituary of Joan E. O'Neill
Joan Elizabeth Magner O’Neill, 81, entered into eternal rest in the comfort of her own home on December 23, 2018 after a long illness. She was born in Seymour, CT, on August 14, 1937 daughter of Maurice Magner and Elizabeth Hager Magner.
After marrying the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” G. O’Neill in
Connecticut in November 1966, they moved to Rochester, NY where they continued
to raise their family before finally settling in Clifton Park, NY in 1976.
In 1982, after a family reunion, her and Chuck fell in love with Cape
Cod, where they would find a home in Eastham and spend the rest of their
summers together. Joan continued to
spend summers there even after Chuck’s passing in 2010.
Joan was a homemaker for the majority of her life, always putting
her family first. Her love for her children and her grandchildren was
undeniable. Always the consummate Mom,
she not only raised her own children, but many more along the way. She
always had an open door and an extra place to sleep if anyone needed it.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles, son Daniel, and
sister Ginger Volkmar. Joan is survived by her children Christine
O’Neill, Erin (Joseph) Campana, Charles C O’Neill, step-children Patricia
(Shaun) Brennan, Michael (Beccy) Holland and Margaret O’Neill. She is
also survived by her adored grandchildren Jonathan Heyse, Adrian O’Neill,
Nathan Brennan, Elana O’Neill, Nicholas and Kylie Campana, Ciara O’Neill,
Connor and Charlotte O’Neill, great-grandchildren Owen and Jonathan Brennan.
Sisters, Maureen Lewis, Mary Caldwell, Jacque Parker and Cheryl (Robert)
Dolan. In addition Joan is survived by
many nieces, nephews and cousins, along with many friends and loved ones who
will miss her dearly.
Joan’s legacy will forever be her kindness and warmth to all who
had the joy of being able to know her.
