Obituary of Wanda M. Smetana
Wanda M. Smetana, 94, of Crescent Rd., beloved wife of over 62 years to H. Theodore "Ted" Smetana, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by family in the comfort of own home on Sunday, December 9, 2018.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late John and Anastasia Bazar Pickulski and was a graduate of Cohoes High School and from Famous Artist in California in 1957, which few ever finish.
Wanda was a freelance artist. She had previously been employed at Whitney's Department Store in Albany, General Electric in Schenectady, Flah's Department Store and Groman's Chinese Theatre in California, where she was an Usher.
Wanda was a very special person with a passion for her family which she cared for her whole life. She also was a loving caregiver to her own mother, her sister Helen and to Ted's mother Crystal until they passed.
Wanda loved to garden and make flower arrangements. She was a life-long communicant of St. Michael's Church in Cohoes where she was also an active volunteer with the Church during those years.
Beloved wife of Ted, who she married on April 29, 1956, devoted mother of Mark Smetana of Clifton Park, Christopher (Kristine) Smetana of Richmond, VA and the late Cynthia Smetana and Susan Smetana, sister of the late Alexander Puckulski, Jean Kardash and Helen Pickulski, cherished grandmother of Jessica Jones, Alexander Smetana and Andrew Smetana, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 on Tuesday morning, December 11, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and to her funeral Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated that morning (Tuesday) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 20 Page Avenue, Cohoes, New York 12047. Interment will follow the Mass and be held in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at 1:00 p.m. A celebration in her honor will be held at the Century House, 997 New Loudon Rd., Latham, NY 12110 following the committal service at the cemetery.
