Obituary of Grace J. Marino-Cataldo

GRACE J. SGROI MARINO-CATALDO

Grace Cataldo (98) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.  Born in Albany, NY, Grace was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Teresa (Gallo) Sgroi. She was a resident of the Home of the Good Shepherd Assisted Living Facility in Malta, N.Y.

She retired from the NYS Department of Taxation.  After her retirement she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, but most importantly loved cooking and spending time with her family.

Grace is survived by her loving children, John (Mary Jean) Marino, Rosanne (Charles) Greenwood and Joanne (the late Joseph) Lue.  Also survived by her grandchildren Cynthia (Mickey) Levernois, Joseph (Carrie) Lue, Jr. , Denise (John) Lacona, Michelle (Paul) Hegener, Michael (Mary) Marino, Nicholas (Sarah) Lue, and John (Nicole) Marino; and 17 Great-Children.  Also survived by her brother-in- law Mike DiMascio and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husbands, John J.  Marino and Frank Cataldo; her siblings, Salvatore, Joseph, Arthur and Vincent Sgroi; Dora Cardona, Mary Cardona, Anne DiMascio and Mafalda Harting.

We want to personally thank the staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd for all the loving care they provided over the years and Saratoga Hospice for their loving support and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Grace’s family on Friday from 4 to 7 at the Gordon C.  Emerick Funeral  Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, N.Y.  The Celebration of her life will be on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 2001 Route 9, Round Lake, NY.  Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in Grace’s memory to the Home of the Good Shepherd’s Activities Committee, 26 Rock Rose Way, #231, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
