Obituary of Robert L. Richards
Robert L. Richards (Bob), 92, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, September 30, 2018. He is survived by Janet Reeves Richards, his loving wife of 65 years, his son Dan L. Richards and wife Karyn Richards of Melrose, NY, his daughter Stacey Richards and husband Jack Tracy of Jamaica Plain, MA and his daughter Amy Trotsky and husband Michael Trotsky of Belmont, MA, his grandchildren Sara (Richards) Mastro and husband Timothy Mastro of Rexford, NY, Charlotte (Richards) Doud and husband Devin Doud of Arlington, MA and Benjamin Trotsky of Belmont, MA and his great-grand daughters Olivia Mae Mastro and Lilian Fern Doud. His is also survived by his sister Dorothy Ballo of Green Bay, WI, his sister-in-law Virginia Reeves of Syracuse, NY.
Bob was born in Watervliet NY and attended Watervliet High School. He graduated early and attended Penn State at the age of 16. Bob joined the US Army Air Corp when he was 18 to proudly serve his country during World War ll. Bob returned to Penn State after the war where he graduated Salutorian with a degree in Forestry Management.
After college, Bob went on to work for International Harvester in the Agricultural Division for 35 years, where he attained the position of Dealer Development Manager for the Northeast and Central Eastern Regions. Bob and his family lived in Clifton Park for 48 years. He was a lifelong outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing from his beloved family cabins in the Adirondacks. He instilled these values to his family who treasure the outdoors as he did. After retirement, he and Janet spent the winter months at their home in Arizona where they traveled extensively throughout the Southwest.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 4th from 4-7 PM at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park. A funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 5th at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 912 NY 146, Clifton Park at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schulerville, at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's name may be made to Saint George’s Church.
