Obituary of Lena Phoenix

Lena Phoenix, 98, formerly of James Drive in Waterford died on Monday Feb. 12, 2018 at the Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Scotia.  She was born in Cohoes, NY on Oct. 14, 1919 and was the daughter of the late William and Rosina Roberts Clairmont.  She was educated in the Cohoes Schools and was the beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Phoenix whom she married on July 12, 1941.  Lena had a tremendous love for her family.  She was a homemaker, a babysitter to many and she loved to read and knit. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Crescent.  Lena was known to say, “her grandkids were grand.”

Lena is the devoted mother of Robert (Marie) Phoenix of Pittstown, Stanley (Lois) Phoenix of East Greenbush, Anne Marie (William) Phoenix Varcasio of Charlton and the late Nancy Phoenix Goben; sister of the late Adelair Clairmont and Edna Ayotte; also survived by 9 loving grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

Funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 from St. Mary’s Church in Crescent where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Calling hours will be from 6-8 pm Friday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waterford.
