Obituary of Alfred James Bold
Alfred James “Jim” Bold, 83, of Harris Road, peacefully passed into eternal life surrounded by his loving family at home on Saturday, December 23, 2017.
Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Alfred F. and Ethel Reepmeyer Bold and was a graduate of Cohoes High School, Class of 1952. Jim served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 – 1963. He was the husband of Shirley Chouiniere Bold, whom he married on May 30, 1957.
Jim retired from Garden Way Mfg. in Troy, where he had worked as an engineer for 26 years. He had previously been employed at GE in Schenectady for 15 years.
Jim was devoted to the Town of Halfmoon, serving on the Planning Board for 14 years, 6 of which he was the Chairman. He was a member of the Halfmoon Republican Committee, elected as a Town Councilman for 14 years and had been the President of the Town Historical Society for 8 years. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader for Troop 36 in Halfmoon and a Cub Scout pack leader also. Jim was an active member of Christ Community Reformed Church in Clifton Park and served as the financial secretary.
In addition to his beloved wife Shirley, he is survived by his devoted children, Mark (Robin) Bold of Schuylerville, NY, Greg (Stacy) Bold of Halfmoon, Barbara (Mark) DeLafayette of Sprakers, NY and the late Jan M. Placido; brother of Norma (Michael) Shylanski of Severn, MD; grandfather of Elizabeth (Travis) Landry, Edward Bold, Emily DeLafayette, Scott DeLafayette, Jack Bold and Leo Bold; nephew of Helen (Robert) Dwyer of Clifton Park and Newcomb, NY; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Community Reformed Church, 1010 RT-146, Clifton Park, NY 12065, with Rev. Dr. Johan Bosman, Pastor, officiating.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, New York 12065.
Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
