Obituary of Henry E. Weglarz
Henry E. “Hank” Weglarz, 89, formerly of Sunset Lane in Speigletown, beloved husband of Joan Hoffmeister Weglarz of Troy, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving family at The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy on Monday, October 30, 2017.
Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Mary Barnat Weglarz and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1945. Hank served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman during World War II and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Weglarz was the owner and operator of the Weglarz Machine Shop in Troy for over 45 years until his retirement in 2002.
Hank enjoyed landscape painting, his HO scale model train collection, travelling, boating, spending time with his dear friends, Fran and Don Valente and vacationing in the summer with his family, in particular his grandchildren. He was a communicant of Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure’s Church) in Speigletown and was a member of the Schaghticoke American Legion Post #731.
Beloved husband of over 62 years to Joan of Troy, devoted father of James H. (Paula) Weglarz of Schaghticoke, Ellen (Daniel) Predmore of Ballston Lake and Diane (Dr. Kenneth) Oberhausen of Avon, CT, cherished grandfather of Eric and Alex Weglarz, Zachary, Samuel and Elizabeth Predmore and Michael, Gregory and Christine Oberhausen. He was predeceased by his sister Jean Weglarz.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th St. in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Parish (Speigletown) 50 Hillview Dr., Troy, NY 12182.
Following the Mass, the interment with military honors will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Troy.
The Weglarz family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy for their compassionate and loving care that has been provided to Hank and his family.
