Obituary of Terry L. Palmer

Terry L. Palmer, 73, of Halfmoon, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 21, 2024 at Saratoga Hospital, where he had been a patient since July 25, 2024.
Born October 6, 1950, in Ticonderoga, NY, he was the son of the late Alice M. and Leo E. Palmer, Sr.
Terry was a 1969 graduate of Shenendehowa High School and served in the United States Navy from 1969 to his honorable discharge in 1971.
He had been a yard master for the former Boston and Maine Railroad, had owned and operated the former Tee’s Freeze in Lansingburgh, and retired from Royal Care Pharmacy (Omnicare) in 2017 as a pharmacy technician and medical cart specialist. In retirement he had been a part time driver for the Senior Express for the Town of Halfmoon; or as he referred to it “a senior driving the seniors”.
Terry had been an avid hunter and member of the former Wintergreen Lake Hunt Club. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 1450, Halfmoon. He had a passion for playing cards and enjoyed many trips to Rivers Casino or as he coined it “going fishing".
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann E. and Willis L. Grosvenor, brothers-in-law David and Kent Grosvenor, his special uncle, Charles “Mick” Ryan, and his forever best friend, Rich Wixted.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Grosvenor Palmer, his beloved daughter, Erin Palmer, his brother, Leo E. (Mary) Palmer, Jr., his sister, Penny Palmer; niece and goddaughter, Amy (Paul) Serafini, niece, Ashley Hamlin, niece and goddaughter, Jessica Hamlin, nieces, Kate (Chris) Palso and Maureen Grosvenor; nephew and godson, Leo E. (Melissa Orner) Palmer III; great nieces, Nicole (Kevin) Archibald, Isabella Serafini, Nina Serafini, Quinn Palmer; great nephews, Jackson Palmer, Kane Hamlin, Gabriel and Eli Palso; great great nieces, Rowan and Willow Archibald; special aunt, Louise “Minnie” Ryan; goddaughters, Stacy Wixted Ganong and Danielle Ryan Woods; cherished honorary grandson, Ryan Hickok; and many cousins and a host of friends.
One of Terry’s greatest joys was the major role he was a part of for the Halfmoon Celebrations Annual Jingle Bell Bash.
A special thank you to the Saratoga Hospital ICU nursing staff whose compassion and caring for Terry was unending, as well as their sincere and loving kindness extended to Liz and Erin.
Calling hours will be Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Funeral service will be on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 11:00 am in the funeral home.
