Obituary of Mary E. Harte
Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Reilly Harte, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at The Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.
Born in Pittsfield, MA on February 1, 1936 to the late Martin C. and Hazel M. Johnson Reilly. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School where she met her future husband Richard J. “Dick” Harte. They celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 20th of this year. During these 65 years they resided in Speigletown, NY Orange CT, Port Charlotte, FL and finally back to Troy, NY.
Speigletown is where they raised their four children; Richard (Margaret) Harte, Mary (Philip) Clemente, Ann (the late, Willis) Wiley and Martin (Susan) Harte.
She was blessed with 9 grandchildren; Ryan (AJ) Bodenstab, Michael (Cristy) Harte, Drew Wiley and his wife Kaila Sheehan, Molly (Mikey) Zinna, Matthew (Maria Murrisky) Harte, Gabrielle Clemente and her husband Nicholas Hentschel, Vanessa Clemente (Michael Duff), Jack Harte and Sarah Harte. She is also survived by the 9 great grandchildren who kept her going for the past several years.
She is also survived by her sister Rosemary (John) McLaughlin and her sister-in-law Lucille Reilly as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers; Thomas, Martin and Joseph Reilly and her son-in-law Willis Wiley.
Betsy attended Pittsfield Secretarial School. She then worked for the New England Telephone Co. as an Operator until her marriage when she embarked on her greatest joy of being a wife and mother. After she raised her family, she went back to work as a Customer Service Representative at Tektronix, Inc.
Betsy was very true to her faith and involved in her Church. She was known by all for her knitting and crocheting, especially the little hats and blankets for the babies in the hospital. She volunteered at The Farano Center for babies with Aids where she would rock the babies for hours.
Betsy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Parish (formerly St. Bonaventure’s Church in Speigletown) 50 Hillview Dr., Troy, NY 12182.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Calling Hours on Monday, August 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Church.
Betsy’s loving family honored her final wishes of being gifted to the Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182.
