Obituary of Pearl Riggins

Pearl Henry Riggins, 92, of Troy, beloved wife for nearly 73 years of James P. “JP” Riggins of Troy, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Born in Clarendon County, SC, she was the daughter of the late James and Almetta Pompey Henry.

Mother Riggins held positions as a seamstress within the men’s clothing and bedroom furnishings industries. Later, she was employed with the NYS Workers Compensation Board and NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance.

Mother Riggins was a Deaconess, Usher, Choir Member, and faithful attendee at Bethel Baptist Church in Troy.

Beloved wife of James “JP”; devoted mother of Dorraine Riggins of Troy, Geraldine (Gary) Stevens of Rotterdam, Steven M. (Linda) Riggins of Bowie, MD., Rochelle Riggins of Randallstown, MD., and the late James P. “Jim” Riggins, Jr.; adopted daughters Pennie Simon, and the late Jacqulyne Martin, adopted son Tony (Beth) .Martin; sister of Ruby (late, Ephraim) Johnson, Lila (Ulysses) Benjamin, Alexander (Elizabeth) Henry, the late Rosea (late, Theodore) Mosley and the late Willie James (late, Girline) Henry, cherished grandmother of Tori (Chris) Plummer, Courtney Evans, Austin Riggins and Jasmine Riggins; adored great grandmother of Chris Plummer Jr., Jaden Plummer, Joshua Plummer, Zyaire Huff and Zyn Huff, loving Godmother to Corsina (Michael) Wiley, and also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Home Going Service on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 2165 Fifth Ave, Troy, and to the Visitation which will be held at the church earlier that morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Interment will be held in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

The Riggins family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center and The Community Hospice for their medical expertise, compassion, and loving care.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Ave, Troy, NY 12182.
