Obituary of Walter T. Patrick, Jr.
It is with deep sadness that the family of Walter (Wally) T. Patrick, Jr. announces his peaceful passing on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the age of 85. Wally was surrounded by love and his family at the time of his passing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a great sense of humor and a joyful laugh which we will miss dearly.
Wally was born on January 23, 1939, in Troy, the son of the late Walter T. Patrick, Sr. and Anna Mae Patrick (Burniche). Wally was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1957. On July 23, 1960, he was united in marriage to Judith (Judy) Brown, and they shared a wonderful life with their three children, filled with love for over 63 years. He was employed for over 30 years with Ford Motor Company, first in Green Island, NY and later Plymouth, MI. In Plymouth, Wally also served as a representative for the United Auto Workers (UAW) union, and proudly participated in a union delegation to Osaka, Japan in 1978.
Throughout his adult life, Wally was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, serving the community, the Church, and his country. His service culminated in his holding the title of Sir Knight as a member of the patriotic Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus.
Wally was an avid fan of all sports and had a special love for baseball and football, especially the New York Yankees and New York Giants. In his earlier years, Wally dedicated himself to playing in softball leagues and coaching youth baseball. Music was a huge part of Wally’s life. He was a big fan of the classic music of the 50’s, especially Frank Sinatra (his favorite) and he was also known as a great dancer. Wally loved to fish and camp in the Adirondacks with his family and he had a lifelong love of all things automobiles. He adored dogs and they brought him much happiness throughout his life.
But most of all, Wally’s biggest love was for his family and close friends. Nothing in the world meant more to him than being surrounded by those he loved.
Wally will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy Patrick of Charlotte, NC; and his children, Walter T. Patrick, III (Joanne) of Naples FL, Debra Bowman (William) of Plymouth MI, and Robin Essenmacher (Ronald) of Charlotte NC. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Devin Burke (Megan), Fallon Burke, Mary Patrick, Ryan Essenmacher, Maggie Essenmacher and Jack Essenmacher. Wally will also be missed by his siblings, Mary Ann Teta and Christina Ford. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Seabury, and his brother and best friend Robert Patrick Sr. Wally has many nieces and nephews and beloved friends, all of whom will miss his smile and kind heart.
A wake will be held on Friday, March 8th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. (Corner of 115th Street & 4th Avenue) 565 Fourth Ave, Troy, NY 12182. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 9:30 AM at St. Augustine's Church, 25 115th St, Troy, NY.
