Obituary of Phyllis M. Nugent Wager

Phyllis M. Nugent Wager, 81, of The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center, formerly of 17th Street in Beman Park and seasonal resident of Babcock Lake in Grafton, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

 

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. and Helen E. Dorsey Nugent and was a graduate of St. Paul’s School and Catholic Central High School, Class of 1960.

 

Phyllis retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in 2008 after a dedicated career as a Cardiopulmonary Technician for over 37 years.

 

Phyllis enjoyed golf, gardening, skiing, knitting, outfitting friends and family with her handmade mittens, swimming and especially the times spent at Babcock Lake.

 

She was a communicant of the former St. Paul the Apostle Church in Beman Park and is a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Sycaway. She was an active member of St. Paul’s School Mother’s Club, a dedicated volunteer at the former Armory Little League for many years, was a member and volunteer of the former Brodie Mountain Ski Racing Team and a member of the Babcock Lake Property Owners Association.

 

Devoted mother of Paula W. (Edward V.) Golden of Troy, Mara A. (Shelley Maher) Wager of Delmar and James J. “Jim” (Jeribeth) Wager, Jr. of Clifton Park who are survived by their father, James J. “Jim” (Christine Herron) Wager of Taylorsville, UT, sister of Barbara Nugent of Naples, FL and the late Constance E. “Connie” (late, Bill) Vandenbosch, Shirley (late, Jack) Delaney, Marilyn (late, John)  Wallace, Edwina (late, Tom) Nealon and, cherished grandmother of Erin T. (Patrick) Walsh, Edward W., Nathaniel T. (Daniella), Carolyn E., Henry J., Emmett P. and Mara K. Golden, adored great grandmother of Michael, Emily, Sean and Peter Walsh. Also survived by her lifelong friend Linda “Cookie” Knight and several nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 N. Lake Ave, Troy, NY 12180 on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 for Public Visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Eulogy at 11:45 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated beginning at 12:15 p.m.

 

Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Phyllis’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff of Eddy Memorial and especially to her caregivers Wizda, Sharon, Katie, Hillary, Pat, Barb, Kristen and Sharon for their patience, friendship and humor during her time as a resident.

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the care of the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180.
