Obituary of Ellen J. Clifford

Ellen Jean Clifford, 78, of Clifton Park, NY passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, surrounded by family on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Born in Troy, NY on March 24th, 1945, Ellen was the daughter of the late Henry “Hank” Murray and Elizabeth “Betty” Murray. Ellen was a graduate of Keveny Academy of Cohoes, NY and New Horizons Travel Institute. She worked as a Travel Agent for Empire Travel Agency before a disability forced her into early retirement. Throughout life, Ellen enjoyed skiing, bowling, traveling (‘cruising’), gardening, family gatherings, her dogs “Mookie” and ‘KC’, and spending as much time as she could with her two grandchildren.

She was the loving mother of Ken (Kimberly) Clifford of Saratoga Springs, NY, Kevin (Rachel Manhim) Clifford of Lake George, NY, and stepmother to Kathleen Clifford of Reykjavík, Iceland. Devoted sister of Linda (the late Edward) Parady of East Greenbush, NY, brother Bill (the late Marie) Murray of Waterford, NY, the late Don Murray of Cohoes, NY, and sister-in-law Colette Murray of Cohoes. Ellen is also survived by two grandchildren, Gavin Campbell Clifford and Parker Elizabeth Clifford, and four nieces and nephews, Donna (Parady) Kardos, Michelle Parady, Carley Murray, and Cristian Murray.

The Clifford family wishes to offer their most sincere appreciation to Ellen’s three nieces, Carley, Michelle, and Donna for their love and support; to Sheila Willsey of Horizon Home Care for her support and advocacy; to the Nurses, Medical Technicians, Hospice Department, and support staff at St. Peter’s Hospital; and to Emerick Funeral Home for the wonderful care and assistance.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, February 6^th, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a service at 6:00 p.m. that evening at the Gordon C. Emerick Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.

A private interment will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes, NY in the Spring, 2024.
