Obituary of Fred Berkheimer Custer
Fred Berkheimer Custer, 93, of the Home of the Good Shepherd and former longtime Clifton Park resident passed away peacefully on Sunday Jan. 7, 2024 at his residence. He was born on Dec. 4, 1930 in Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Walter and Bernice Berkheimer Custer. Fred was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict serving honorably from 1951-1952. He Graduated in 1955 from Penn State University with his BS in Business Administration. Fred worked for the General Electric Company for 38 years in various financial analyst and managerial positions. He had been a member of the GE Elfun Society and the Halfmoon American Legion Mohawk Post 1450. He had been a volunteer at the Jonesville Food Pantry and was a member and volunteer for the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Ambulance Corps. Fred was a past IRS Volunteer for Tax Assistance for the Elderly. He was a former member of Shenendehowa United Methodist Church and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
He is the husband of the late Sara Jane Angle Custer and Carolyn Droms Custer. He is the father of Kenneth (Debbie) Custer, Brian (Maria) Custer and Jennifer (Paul) Graffeo; Grandfather of Michael (Sabra), Douglas (Marisa), Brian, Mark, Theresa (Kris), Laura (fiance John); Great grandfather of Callie and Evan; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
