Obituary of Louis R. Vautrin
Louis R. Vautrin, 71, of Rensselaer (formerly of Troy), peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.
Born and educated in Cohoes, NY, he was the son of the late Louis and Bertha Flatley Vautrin.
Lou had been employed at Arcy Plastic Laminates in Waterford.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, taking them on adventures, driving them to activities, or just hearing about their accomplishments. He was very proud of all of them.
He loved the Dallas Cowboys and hardly ever missed watching a game on tv. He also loved when he would be out and someone would recognize him as “the guy from 2nd St in South Troy that was always sitting on the porch smoking a cigar”. He was a friend to everyone that passed by or stopped to chat with him.
Lou was a past member of the Polish American Club in Cohoes and enjoyed many years of shooting darts and playing horseshoes with everyone there.
Devoted father of Janet Gamble of Rensselaer, Rachael Jones of Niskayuna, Tiffani Laranjo of Troy and Louis Vautrin of Cohoes, brother of Eugene Vautrin of North Greenbush, Barbara Sheridan of Watervliet, and Cindy Castracane of Malta, also survived by 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and their families.
A gathering to honor and celebrate Louis’s life will be held in January.
Private funeral services have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
