Schaghticoke, New York

Charles J. “Charlie” Tkal, 32, of Schaghticoke, beloved husband for 6 years to Katie L. Milne Tkal, passed away following a heroic 18-month battle with Colon Cancer, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital.

Born in Troy, NY, he was the devoted son of Karen Strope (Paul) Cady and Greg (Melissa) Tkal and was a graduate of Hoosic Valley High School in Schahgticoke.

Charlie had been employed as the Manager at Hudson Valley Bee Supply in Kingston where he held a few positions having worked his way up through the ranks over the years.

Charlie loved music, playing the guitar and drums as well as video games, particularly Dungeons & Dragons. He also loved beekeeping, gardening, hiking, being outdoors in general and Viking re-enactments as part of the Norseland group. Charlie was most passionate about his family and friends. He was well known for his jokes and infectious smile that could brighten anyone’s day.

In addition to his beloved wife Katie, parents Karen (Paul) and Greg (Melissa), Charlie is the much adored father of Marley (10), Warren (7) and Samuel (4) Tkal, loving grandson of Charlene (late Howard) Strope, dear brother of Ryan (Caitlin) Cady, Kristen (Chris) Dindio, the late Megan MacLean, Evan and Julia Hatch, cherished son-in-law of George and Holly Milne, and is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to Charlie’s Celebration of Life Ceremony on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greenwich VFW Post 7291, 63 Abeel Ave Greenwich, N.Y. 12834

Those attending are asked to wear their favorite band t-shirt to honor Charlie’s love of music.

Private interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
