Obituary of James L. Higgins
James L. Higgins, 86, passed away on Tuesday August 22, 2023 at his home in Clifton Park, NY with his Family by his side. Born in Cohoes, NY, he was the son of the late Leo and Helen (Brockway) Higgins.
James (Jim) was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in 1954 and proudly served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Savannah, Georgia for 4 years, where he met his wife, Marilyn.
He retired from Bendix in Green Island, NY after 30 years of service. After retirement, he was actively involved in all types of projects and home renovations. He loved lending a hand to all that asked, and left his indelible mark on many friends and Family with his skills-almost everyone in the Family has something in their home that he either built or fixed.
He really loved spending his Winters in Savannah and spending time with Family in the Summer months on the front porch of his 1860 farmhouse, famously known as the gathering place for all to come to enjoy the 4 o’clock wine time, with lively discussions of the day’s events and funny stories that made us laugh.
Known as James, Jim, Butchie, Grandpa, Grampy, or Mr. Higgins, he was the best husband, Father, Father-in-Law, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, favorite Uncle and friend of many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn (Todd) Higgins; two Sons, Michael (Faith) Higgins and Mark (Sue) Higgins; four Grandsons, Justin, Josh (Gina), Patrick and Brian, two Great Grandchildren, Sophia and Henry; three Sisters, Joan Brownell, Jean (George) Heroux and Jacque (Dennis) Lape, along with numerous Nieces and Nephews.
