Obituary of Bradley R. Stevens

Bradley “Brad” R. Stevens, 46, of Saxony Street passed away on Wednesday August 2, 2023 at his home of natural causes. 

He was born on June 2, 1977 in Salem, MA and was the devoted son of Robert and Gail Davis Stevens of Hooksett, NH, and the beloved husband of Lisa Bellard Stevens whom he married on Nov. 8, 2008. 

Brad was a dissertation away from earning his PhD following his graduate degree in criminal justice from SUNY Albany after earning his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Saint Anselm College.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife Lisa, Brad is the loving father of Benjamin, Joshua and Nathaniel Stevens; he is the brother of Jessica (Tim) Sheehan; the son-in-law of Thomas and Angela Fichera Bellard and brother-in-law of Amy (Douglas) Merrigan and Megan (Nicholas) Bochette along with several nieces and nephews.  

He was the Director of Financial Administration 4 for the NYS Dept. of Criminal Justice Services in Albany.

Brad previously worked at NYS Homeland Security and Emergency Services, and the NYS Division of Budget.

Along with his love for Lisa, Brad greatly enjoyed being a father to his boys, vacationing with family to Disney World, Outer Banks, the Nubble Lighthouse in Maine and New Hampshire.

Brad enjoyed sports with Ben, Lego building with Josh and comforting snuggles with Nate along with making the annual Pinewood Derby cars for his boys in the Boy Scouts.

Brad’s impact on the lives he touched was profound. His thoughtfulness and sensitivity toward others had no limits as he went out of his way to make his guests feel welcome and valued.

If you needed product research on a potential purchase, or a how-to cooking question for the smoker or just a quick hello to brighten your day, you called Brad. Brad was an avid sports fan, particularly of the New England teams and basked in the glow of each Patriot Super Bowl win and Red Sox World Series championship.

His passion for sports included horse racing, golf, podcasts and fantasy sports with his son Ben along with cooking and being open to trying new challenges. With the gift of knowledge on seemingly every subject, Brad had the ability to contribute his wisdom and quick wit into all conversations and his presence, a larger-than-life persona that eclipsed the long shadow cast by his tall frame, will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Life will be celebrated on Monday at 5:00 pm in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Monday in the funeral home.
