Obituary of Raymond Schermerhorn, Jr.

Raymond Schermerhorn, Jr., 71, of Rensselaer, passed away at home on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Born in Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Raymond Schermerhorn and Joyce Hotaling Schermerhorn and the husband of the late Rose Marie Galluzzo Schermerhorn.                         

Ray enjoyed listening to music, cooking and volunteering with the Salvation Army in Troy.

His hobbies included fishing and bike riding.

Beloved father of Mary Donovan, Samuel Galluzzo, Darlene Galluzzo and the late Linda Chapman, brother of Hope, Faith, Charity, Timothy, Gregory and the late Danny Schermerhorn, grandfather of Ariannah Reyes, Katariah Conyers, Julio Vega, Jaydin Vega, Kristen and Kayla Donovan, Samantha (Kevin) Domey, Sierra Kovalsky, Savannah Kovalsky, Sienna Galluzzo, Agrieana Lisboa, Anquiette Lisboa and Hector Galluzzo, also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his companion Cora.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation and funeral service on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY, 12182.

Interment will be held in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.

Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, in memory of Raymond Schermerhorn.
