Obituary of William J. Jackowski

William J. Jackowski, 93, formerly of Coburg Village in Rexford and longtime resident of Halfmoon, died on Sunday April 30, 2023, at the Glendale Home in Glenville.  He was born on Jan. 30, 1930, in Amsterdam and was the son of the late William Jackowski and Katherine Szurek.Bill graduated from Amsterdam High School, Class of 1947. He graduated from Siena College in 1954. Following his graduation from Siena, he served honorably in the US Army in Korea until 1956. When he returned from Korea, pursuing his passion for the outdoors, he graduated from the College of Forestry at Syracuse University in 1957, and married Virginia M. Kazlauskas in 1959. Bill and Virginia moved west to Washington and Oregon where he worked in the forest products industry. He later worked in New Jersey and Connecticut before returning to New York and serving as a purchasing agent at the NYS Office of General Services. Bill and Virginia celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary prior to her passing in 2019. Bill was a devout Catholic and was an active communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Crescent. 

Bill was the father of James (Janet) Jackowski, Robert (Beth) Jackowski, and William (Deborah) Jackowski. He is also survived by six cherished grandchildren and four nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Gertrude, Evelyn and Frances.

Services will be private. Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
