Obituary of Allen Lee Zehner, Sr.

Allen Lee Zehner, Sr., 67, of the Conway Court Apts., passed away on Friday April 28, 2023 at his residence. 

Born in Troy, New York on November 25, 1955, he was the son of the late Charles and Marilyn Canam Zehner, Sr.  His parents both died when he was of a young age. Allen was educated in the Troy Public Schools system and had been retired due to disability. Earlier, he had received his cooking certificate and had been a cook at RPI in Troy. He had worked in Maintenance at St. Catherine’s Center for Children in Albany until retirement. He served honorably in the United States Army. 

He loved playing his guitar, hunting, fishing and writing poetry.  Allen’s most important time was spending it with his family, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his siblings. 

He is the devoted father of Amber Lynn Demo Zehner, Bobbielee M. Zehner, Patrick M. Zehner (Lisa) and the late Allen Lee Zehner, Jr. who passed away 24 years ago, brother of Laura Bruce (Joseph), Christopher Zehner, David Zehner and the late Lynn Mitchell, Patricia Favour, Charles Zehner, Jr., Steven Zehner, John Zehner and James Zehner. He was the doting grandfather to his 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 followed by a Commital Service at 1:30 p.m. at Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy officiated by Minister MacArthur Henderson.
