Willie (you folks who knew him for only a little while called him Dan) was one of the all-time great guys. He was fun, honest, and sincere. We were basketball teammates for four years in high school; he was the point guard and I played the post. I got the ball a lot because, well, that’s the kind of teammate Willie was. We shared a lot of good times.
To all of his family and his friends in his years after high school: You were blessed to have him, and you have my sympathies.

What a great and loving and funny and thoughtful and generous man - spent a lot of nights hanging at the house in my youth with Stu and Brian. You'll be missed by all, sir.

Mr. Howells was an amazing person whom I looked up to ever since I met him. When I was in elementary school I would always play basketball after church while waiting for my parents never-ending conversations to end. Mr Howells would come and play ball with me and was just such a joy and a great time. Although much older, he was a great friend. He supported me in my sports career throughout middle and highschool, college, and even came to our church softball games at times when I was older. He always brought a smile to my face. I looked up to him so much. Although this loss is incredibly sad, I have great joy knowing beyond a doubt that Mr. Howells is in heaven with Jesus. Sad for us, joyous for him. His love for Jesus will be passed on to anyone who hears of his memory, which is most important. Mr. Howells was a special man, I wish so badly I was able to tell him just how much he meant to me. All my love to the Howells family, you will be in my prayers.

Dear Barb and family, I am deeply saddened by the news of Dan’s passing. I will always remember him and his antics while serving during Lenten Luncheons. I am forever grateful for his dedication to mentoring my former son-in-law battling alcoholism.
Dan was a man after God’s heart and lived it out every day.
In God’s love,
Nancy Joseph
