Obituary of John Joseph Valcik, Sr.
John Joseph Valcik, Sr., 90 of Grissom Dr. passed away on Sunday May 15, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on Nov. 30, 1931 in Albany and was the son of the late John and Mary Frances Zvoncak Valcik. John was a graduate of Phillip Schuyler High School in Albany and had served in the Army Air Corps. He was the beloved husband of the late Virginia A. Spulnick Valcik who died on Jan. 6, 2001. John had been a truck driver for the Teamsters local in Albany for many years working with W.M. Girvan. An avid Yankees fan, John also loved spending his time at their camp at Brant Lake. He always listened to Polka music and cherished his Polish heritage. John and Virginia enjoyed dancing to polka’s and would travel around the area for special Polish events. He also enjoyed history, watching and learning about it. There wasn’t a pet animal that he didn’t like. He was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
He is the devoted father of John J. (Sandra) Valcik, Jr. of Stilllwater, Joseph A. (Nueva) Valcik of Las Vegas, NV, Stephen J. (the late Debra) Valcik of Waterford, Christopher J. (Mary) Valcik of Clifton Park and the late Michael J. and David J. (Nancy of Rexford) Valcik; dear brother of Frank (Doreen) Valcik, Millie (John) Salvinski and Frances Valcik and the late Mary Krutka and Joseph Valcik; also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Thursday May 26th. at 10:30 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd. Clifton Park, NY 12065 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065,
Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
