Obituary of Elizabeth J. Hackett
Elizabeth J. Hackett, 80, formerly of Third Avenue in Lansingburgh, died suddenly after a brief illness. She peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on Monday, January 31, 2022.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy (Scrafford) Kowansky and was predeceased by husbands John Massoth and James Hackett.
Mrs. Hackett worked many jobs during her life, including early childhood and daycare centers. But most recently, she served the youth of the Lansingburgh community for many years as a Foster Grandparent at the Lansingburgh Girls and Boys Club.
She was a trained classical dancer in her younger years and continued to enjoy dancing throughout her life. Elizabeth was a lover of all animals, and especially her cats, of which there were many over the years. She was always feeding the birds and squirrels and enjoyed watching them frolic around her front and back yard. She loved sitting on her front porch, waving to everyone and wishing them a great day. She had a seemingly endless supply of energy and up until recently, was still outside working in her yard, sweeping her sidewalk and shoveling snow in the winter. She was one feisty, strong and beautiful woman. We will all miss you mom and Nana.
Devoted mother of Lisa (Neil) Kelleher, Laura (Rick) Louis and Glenn Massoth, Sr., sister of Paul Kowansky, Jr., Eleanor Pigliavento, and predeceased by Gloria Trahan and Jack Whalen. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, New York 12182. Phone (518) 235-09052
The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff at both Van Rensselaer Manor and Samaritan Hospital.
Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to the Lansingburgh Boys & Girls Club, 501 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182 or to the Mohawk & Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204, in memory of Elizabeth J. Hackett.
