I worked at Coburg in the maintenance department when he moved in. When I would get a work order from it was always something to look forward to, I knew it would be fun & laughs , my pleasure to serve him , knowing how he served in the military. May God bless all and I know heaven will be a better place.

I worked at Coburg village for 2 years and even after leaving I would check in with friends to make sure Mr. Obrien was happy and well. He was truly the sweetest man and I will never forget the kindness he showed to me. He will be missed immensely. ❤️

I worked at coburg village in the dining department for 3 years and have had many fond memories of Mr. O’Brien. He had always told me to keep smiling and never failed to get a laugh out of me every time I worked. Mr. O’Brien was one of the sweetest most caring men I have met to this day and he will be missed deeply.

I worked at Coburg Village when Mr.OBrien moved in and we had an instant connection. He became like a grandfather to me in every sense of the word. He was one of the main reasons I stayed at that job for four years. He was my absolute favorite man in that place. I still have a magnet of me and him at one of the summer fests sitting in my car, and all of the pictures I got to take with him over the years are forever staying on my phone. I wrote him a letter before I went off to college thanking him for the love he made me feel. I am so happy I got to see him before the pandemic began. I got the pleasure to meet a few of his family members and I cannot imagine how you are all feeling. He was such a great man who knew how to make everybody smile. He complimented me and remembered little things about me and I will always remember him. He was a highlight of my highschool years, he was the reason Coburg was the best job I could have ever had. I know he knew he was my favorite. I will never forget him. The World lost the best soul.

In high school, I worked at Coburg Village as a waitress for a couple years. Mr. O'Brien was the highlight of every shift. I'd always go out of my way to talk with him because I loved seeing him smile and make jokes. If he was ever sitting alone the past few years, I'd make sure to go out of my way to see him. Although I merely worked at his place of residency, I really adored him as a person and am honored to have known him. I'm extremely sorry for your loss, he truly was an amazing person.

In March 1947 I walked in to the New Scotland Ave armory in Albany and joined the National Guard. One of the first people I met was 1st Sgt Ed O'Brien The boss NCO of HQ. CO . 27th Inf Div Headquarters. And here I am a 16 year old Jewish kid in an almost all IRISH outfit. Ed and the guys adopted me, invited me to their homes where some of their parents taught me some of the old songs of the rebellions. Years later after we were commissioned, we both were in A Co 105th Inf in the Troy Armory and then A CO. 205th Tank Bn.. I got a Regular Army commission and left Albany. We continued to remain in contact over the years while we were both in the army. We met again at Ft Harrison with another old friend from the 105th. Over the years we talked about the beer and the songs in our little officers club at the Troy armory.
Carolyn and I talked with Ed many times before he had to go to rehab.
We said prayers for him Saturday evening at services,
Burleigh

Ed was one of my favorite people at Coburg Village. As director of the Choraliers I became well-acquainted with his jokes and antics. A story I enjoy telling concerns his inability to not join in during a ladies only section of a song. One time I actually shook my finger—and my head— at him during a concert for doing just that. Obviously, with little effect! I will surely miss him and his absence at our rehearsals and for our enjoyable banter. My sincere condolences to his family. Bev Andrews

It was a shock!
Ed was such a delight, we had breakfast together at Coburg Village's Bistro, also sang in the Choraliers, albeit (fortunately!) at opposite ends of the men's back bench!
He was so full of life, embued with a wicked sense of humor, always had an eye for the ladies!
I will miss him sorely!
