Obituary of Sue A. Henry
Sue Ann “Susie” Henry, 74, of Colonie, peacefully entered into eternal life on Friday, January 1, 2021. Born in Lansing, Michigan, she was the daughter of William Kain and Roberta Kain Murphy and James Murphy. She graduated from Sexton High School in Lansing and earned her Associates Degree from HVCC in Troy. Sue worked at RPI and the New York State Department of Health. She was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet.
She was a loving and amazing mother to Laurie Henry of Troy and Daron Henry of Colonie. Whether watching Daron play hockey or taking annual road trips to Michigan with Laurie, she was happiest creating beautiful memories with her children and family. She loved boat rides on the lake, searching the night sky for satellites and shooting stars, deer counting at the cottage, playing Mahjong and traveling with the “girls”, and family reunions. In 1964, Sue swam with a competitive synchronized swimming team, The Lansing Sea Sprites, which traveled the world to promote the sport before it was recognized as an Olympic sport. She continued to stay fit in retirement, working out with a personal trainer. Sue will be remembered for her generosity of heart, adventurous spirit, and her love of movies and all things Star Wars and Harry Potter.
In addition to Laurie and Daron, Sue is survived by her aunt Norma Ferguson of Marshall, Michigan, siblings Collen (Jack) McNamara, Billie Swartz, and James (Char) Murphy and Sister-in Law Kathie (Doug) Murphy of Lansing, Michigan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brother John “Doug” Murphy, brother-in law Jack McNamara.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her virtual memorial service on Saturday, January 16, 2021 which begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home by joining Zoom Meeting
