Dot Enfield
I have such fond memories of Dot’s visits to New York City. I can still picture her rolling her small suitcase up the long hallway from the front door, already excitedly talking about the meal she was on her way upstairs to prepare for me and Cindy. She was the only person on Earth that got away with calling Cynthia “Cindy”.
And after our feast, Dot would open her little suitcase and start pulling out treasures for us. Little “Had to haves” and I thought you guys could use these” kind of things from her seemingly bottomless bag, like Mary Poppins!
We spent many evenings talking and laughing into the night.
When she had an opportunity to speak with me privately, she told me she worried about Cindy, but felt good because we were friends. I assured her that not only did she have a trusted friend in me, but she had an entire building of people that loved her, and would help her in need.
As Dot Enfield, from Troy, NY, wheels her suitcase towards the Pearly Gates, I’m imagining her reaching deep into her suitcase, like Mary Poppins, and pulling out a gleaming can of WD 40 “a little Must Have” just for you St. Peter...and that squeaky gate ...❤️
