Obituary of William J. Fogarty

William J. Fogarty, 81, a lifelong resident of Troy, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

He was the son of the late William Fogarty and the late Julia Burgess Fogarty Ryan.

Mr. Fogarty served his country in the U.S. Army.

Bill was employed for many years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and as a house painter.

William is survived by his wife Patricia Huneau Fogarty. He was father of William Fogarty of Florida, Paul Sullivan of Troy, NY, Joseph (Danielle) Conboy of Green Island, NY, Ashley Fogarty of Troy, NY, grandfather of Cole Tompkins and Madilynn and Evelynn Conboy, brother of Thomas (Suzanne) Ryan of Rock City Falls, NY, Linda Ryan Huneau, Diane (late, Michael) O’Donnell of Petersburg, NY, Sharon (Fred) Ryan of Troy, NY, Bobby Ryan of New Hampshire, Mikey Ryan of Waterford, NY, also survived by many nieces and nephews that loved him very much!!!

He was predeceased by sisters, Patricia Fogarty, Barbara Richards, Colleen Rigney, brother, Steven Ryan and a grandson Jordan Tompkins.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.

Please join the family at a Celebration of Life reception to honor Bill that afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the All Troy Athletic Club, 538 Second Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
