Obituary of Frances A. McCarthy

Frances A. Pafundi McCarthy, 88, of Halfmoon, beloved wife of the late Paul S. McCarthy, Sr., peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Philomena (Mazzariello) Pafundi and was a graduate of Troy High School.  Following her marriage to Paul Sr., they eventually moved to Stillwater where they lived until his death. Afterward she relocated to Halfmoon.

Mrs. McCarthy retired from employment with New York State in Albany having been employed at NYS. Dept. of Taxation and Finance as well as with NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved to travel with family and friends.

Frances was the devoted mother of Paul S. (Cathy) McCarthy, Jr., Theresa (John) Christian and the late Donna McCarthy, cherished grandmother of Ryan McCarthy, Lauren (Dalton) McCarthy-Whaley, Damien Kanser, Nerissa Christian and Stephanie Christian, adored great grandmother of Jake, Jayden, Ji’Aire, Jaelynn, Amirah, Kevin, III, Izaiah, Ezariah and Bennett.

Relatives and friends are invited to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182, on Thursday, January 22, 2026 for Calling Hours from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and for Reflections which will be offered at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.

Mrs. McCarthy’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare in Clifton Park and Community Hospice of Saratoga for providing exceptional care and support of their mother.
