Donald Vincent Grosky

April 12, 1933 - June 29, 2025

Donald Vincent Grosky passed away peacefully on the morning of June 29th, 2025. In the months leading up to his passing, his family was fortunate enough to have maximized every moment with him; forging new family memories and growing closer as a result of his love and magnetism. In his final days, he saw the culmination of a life lived to the fullest. Just days before his passing, he woke up in his hospital bed; a genuine smile gradually spreading across his face as he saw his wife, Gloria (Roberts) Grosky of 67 years wheeled up to his bedside. In a moment witnessed by those who loved him most, they shared many tear-filled goodbye kisses, said “it was a good run” and held hands late into the evening. It’s not often that you get to see a couple so deeply in love for so long get to say goodbye to each other with such grace and gratitude.

Donald was a proud graduate of Union College and a lifelong brother of Sigma Chi, having earned the distinction of Semi-Century member. He went on to receive his dental degree from Georgetown University, where he remained an active and engaged alumnus throughout his life. Following his academic achievements, Donald served with great pride in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge in 1962.

A firm believer in both hard work and joyful living, Donald brought passion to everything he did. A world-class accordion player, Don showcased his artistry and love for Polka music throughout the Capital Region and beyond for many years with bands including: The Top Hats, King’s Men, The Don Nikolski Orchestra, Frank Czach & The Revelaires, and proudly with his son Mark Grosky & The Capital Sounds.  He continued to share his love of music by teaching dozens of students. Together with his wife, Gloria, Donald was an avid world traveler. The two explored countless countries and cultures side by side, often with close friends and family. Cruising was his favorite way to see the world—he embarked on more than 125 cruises over the course of his lifetime.

Son of the late Vincent and Rose Grosky, Donald is survived by his wife Gloria M.(Roberts) Grosky, his two sons Kevin M. Grosky and Mark Brian Grosky (Kristina), four grandchildren - Michael B. Grosky, Matthew J. Grosky, Sarah K. Grosky and Mark Brian Grosky II - and two great-grandchildren, Madison R. Grosky and Gavin B. Grosky. He loved them all unconditionally and was endlessly proud of their lives and accomplishments.

He will be remembered for his humor, his generosity and the way he made people feel like they mattered. His physical presence will be deeply missed, but his stories, his spirit and his often-off-color jokes will live on in the people who were fortunate enough to share part of their lives with him; even if some of that time was characterized by eye rolls and the occasional face palm.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted by his family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
