Obituary of John M. Nimons

John “Jack” Nimons, 85, of Osprey, FL and Brunswick, NY, beloved husband for 62 years to Marianne Duffy Nimons, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 13, 2025.

 

A native of Troy, NY, Jack was the son of the late John B. and Neamata McKeon Nimons. He graduated from Troy PS#14, and LaSalle Institute in Troy, later earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Siena College in Loudonville, NY. He went on to pursue further studies at both Columbia University and Dartmouth College. From 1961-1963 he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He went on to build a successful career with Champion International in Stamford, CT, retiring after 35 years as Vice President Corporate Controller.

 

Jack took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with them. He was also an avid golfer, holding memberships at both The Country Club of Troy and The Oaks Club in Osprey, FL. He served as a former Board Member of the Berlin Mountain Fish and Game Club, where he was an active member and cherished many summers with loved ones.

 

Beloved husband of Marianne, devoted father of Timothy (Jill) Nimons and the late John (Hilary) Nimons, cherished Grandfather “Papa” of Alexandra (Joseph) Amiccuci, Timothy J. Nimons, John “Jack” Nimons, John “Jake” Nimons and Jessica Nimons, adored Great-Grandfather “Papa” of Dean  and John Patrick Amiccuci, brother of the late Daraghle (John E., II) Gallagher, and survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Morris - Stebbins - Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180 and to the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Friday at 12:00 p.m.

 

Interment with military honors will follow the funeral home service on Friday in Eagle Mills Cemetery.

 

The Nimons family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the caregivers from the A-2 Unit at Van Rensselaer Manor.
