Although I have many fond memories of Uncle Tom at family gathers when I was a kid, the best by far, is when he visited us in Toronto, CN.
My son was a newborn and Aunt Phyl and I were busy with the baby. At one point we wondered what happened to Uncle Tom, realizing he had been "missing" for quite some time. Eventually, he showed up exhausted and sweating. He didn't want to worry us but the dog had gotten loose and he went after him. Uncle Tom chased Milo for over an hour; through a park, across a busy road, along the beachfront, around the tennis courts... The story goes that Milo eventually ran head-first into a tree and knocked himself out. That's when Uncle Tom grabbed him and dragged him home! I'm still laughing to this day, 27 years later!
